What size treble hooks should I use for catching catfish. I'm just threading a night crawler. I've tried a size 10 and 8, are these too small?

I take it you're fishing for channels? I use 2/0 or 3/0 octopus circle hooks. They always hook in the corner of the mouth for safe release. Phoenix Arizona

Thank you, I did not think about octopus circle hooks. Maybe they work better than trebles.

I like to thread a deeply ribbed plastic bass bait with a curly tail onto the hook leaving just the tail free to wiggle in the current, then push it into a good catfish dip bait and cast it out. You have the scent and taste, as well as the tail wiggling and vibrating in the current. Phoenix Arizona

when i go to keep some cats for the table I use a #4 Eagle claw treble hook. Other than that I use the Eagle Claw #L197BK - 3/0 or the 4/0 circle . I never had a problem with Eagle Claw hooks an for the money I cannot complain.

What kind of dip bait would you suggest. Also, Eagle Claw is a reliable brand, I buy the regular single hooks from them.

The dip bait I'm currently using is Strike King Catfish Dynamite. Secret 7 is supposed to be very good too. Phoenix Arizona
